Montpelier, VT and surrounding towns received up to 5 inches of rain as a result of stalled thunderstorms on the evening of May 26th into the 27th.  As a result, the Winooski River jumped from 5 feet to 17.59′ in the space of 6 hours.  The NOAA river gauge for the Winooski river and Montpelier is shown below.
